FLAT TRACK
Flat track motorcycle racing is a thrilling and uniquely American motorsport that takes place on oval dirt tracks, often in the form of circular or semi-circular configurations. Riders on purpose-built flat track motorcycles, often modified for optimal performance, compete in events where speed and skill are paramount. The tracks are typically dirt or clay surfaces, with variations in size ranging from short, tight courses of around a quarter-mile to larger half-mile and mile-long tracks. The sport is known for its close-quarters, handlebar-to-handlebar racing, where riders skillfully slide their bikes sideways into corners, utilizing a technique known as "drifting." Flat track racing showcases the riders' ability to control their motorcycles at high speeds while constantly adjusting their line to find the quickest path to victory, making it a spectacular and highly competitive form of motorcycle racing
Eddie's flat track journey is a testament to his dedication and adaptability as a rider. Starting with a Yamaha TTR125 in 2016, he used the bike as a training tool due to its manageable power and versatility. Spending countless hours with his mentor Ryne Snooks, they honed their skills in the backyard and on a makeshift track at the Ready to Ride motorcycle shop. In 2020, facing restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic and a desire to ride, Eddie seized the opportunity to acquire a fully set-up Suzuki RMZ450 from The Slide Ranch. Leveraging the skills and muscle memory developed on the smaller bike, he found success in the 450 Amateur class. Transitioning to a Kawasaki 450 in 2021, Eddie participated in amateur nationals, competing on various track types, including mile, short track, TT, and half-mile, showcasing his adaptability and determination in the world of flat track racing.
